Moins d’un an après l’arrêt Dobbs du 24 juin 2022 par lequel la Cour suprême des États-Unis a renversé la jurisprudence Roe vs Wade de 1973 rendant légal l’avortement dans toute l’Union, les femmes américaines subissent, sous la férule du fanatisme le plus débridé, une restriction supplémentaire du droit de disposer librement de leur corps et de leur conscience.
D’une part, l’État du Wyoming vient d’adopter une loi appelée à entrer en vigueur le 1er juillet 2023 interdisant, pour la première fois aux États-Unis, les « avortements chimiques », c’est-à-dire provoqués par un médicament, bien que ceux-ci représentent 53 % des interruptions volontaires de grossesse dans ce pays : sous peine d’une incarcération de six mois et d’une amende de 9 000 dollars, « […] il sera illégal de prescrire, dispenser, distribuer, vendre ou utiliser quelque médicament que ce soit dans le but de provoquer un avortement sur quelque personne que ce soit. » Désormais, le risque vital pour la santé de la mère de même que la preuve que la grossesse résulte d’un viol ou d’un inceste justifient seuls le recours à la pilule du lendemain.

D’autre part, le 7 avril 2023, le juge fédéral conservateur Matthew Kacsmaryk, nommé par Donald Trump à Amarillo au Texas et ancien juriste du First Liberty Institute, une organisation défendant les intérêts de l’extrême-droite religieuse, vient de prononcer la suspension de l’autorisation délivrée par la Food and Drug Administration de mise sur le marché de la molécule entrant dans la composition de la pilule abortive. Il s’est rangé aux arguments des militants anti-avortement qui prétendent, en dépit de toutes les preuves scientifiques contraires, que cette molécule serait dangereuse pour les femmes.

Étienne-Émile Beaulieu, spécialiste des hormones stéroïdes qui a mis au point la pilule abortive, ancien Président de l’Académie des sciences française de 2003 à 2004, a dénoncé ce « scandaleux » « recul contre la liberté des femmes » procédant du « fanatisme [et de] l’ignorance ».

Ces deux décisions, respectivement prises par un juge fédéral unique et le législateur du Wyoming à la veille de la Conférence internationale organisée à Paris par le Bureau européen de coordination de la Libre Pensée, à laquelle participait le citoyen américain Rob Boston d’American United, justifient la principale conclusion de ces deux journées de réflexion : partout dans le monde, seules la conquête, lorsqu’elle n’existe pas, ou la reconquête, quand elle est établie mais se trouve partiellement dénaturée, de la Séparation des États et des religions sont à même de garantir la pleine liberté de conscience des individus et, notamment, le droit des femmes de disposer librement de leur corps.

Fanaticism against women
Less than a year after the Dobbs decision of 24 June 2022 by which the Supreme Court of the United States overturned the Roe vs Wade jurisprudence of 1973 making abortion legal throughout the Union, American women are suffering, under the rule of the most unbridled fanaticism, a further restriction on the right to freely dispose of their bodies and consciences.
On the one hand, the state of Wyoming has just adopted a law set to enter into force on July 1, 2023 banning, for the first time in the United States, “chemical abortions“, i.e. caused by a drug, although these represent 53% of voluntary abortions in this country : Under penalty of six months’ imprisonment and a fine of $9,000, “[…] it shall be unlawful to prescribe, dispense, distribute, sell ou use any drug for the purpose of procuring or performing an abortion on any person.” Henceforth, the vital risk to the mother’s health as well as the proof that the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest alone justify the use of the morning-after pill.
On the other hand, on April 7, 2023, conservative federal judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, appointed by Donald Trump in Amarillo, Texas, and former jurist of the First Liberty Institute, an organization defending the interests of the religious far right groups, has just suspended the authorization issued by the Food and Drug Administration to market the molecule used in the composition of the abortion pill. He agreed with the arguments of anti-abortion activists who pretend, despite all scientific evidence to the contrary, that this molecule is dangerous for women.
Étienne-Émile Beaulieu, a steroid hormone specialist who developed the abortion pill, former president of the French Academy of Sciences from 2003 to 2004, denounced this “scandalous” “recoil against women’s freedom” proceeding from “fanaticism [and] ignorance“.
These two decisions, respectively taken by a single federal judge and the legislator of Wyoming on the eve of the international conference organized in Paris by the European Coordination Office of Free Thought, in which the American citizen Rob Boston of American United participated, justify the main conclusion of these two days of reflection : all over the world, only the conquest, when it does not exist, or the reconquest, when it is established but is partially denatured, of the separation of States and religions are able to guarantee the full freedom of conscience of individuals and, in particular, the right of women to freely dispose of their bodies.
